One Hundred Years Old
This lovely home was built in 1906, by Miles and Ellen Ellis, It is said that she was President Grover Cleveland's niece. It could be true as there was supposedly another relative in town at that time. They lived a here few years then sold it to the Mackie family for $1500. Quite a buy! The three Mackie daughters, who were old maid school teachers lived in the house until 1982, and people still call it the Mackie House.
I've wondered if they did a great deal of canning or were afraid of storms, since there is an outdoor cellar and a solid cement room downstairs in a very safe location. I'd certainly go there rather than that cellar, if there was a storm.
I am the owner and manager and AnnaBelle is my real name, but you can call me Ann. I moved here in 2005 and changed the home into a B & B. Now I'm an innkeeper. I really enjoy this new endeavor after 30 years in the floral business in Broken Bow, Ne.
Cooking is my favorite pastime, and eating breakfast is my second favorite, so you can bet breakfast will be tasty.
